ASKED
QUESTIONS
We answer your most common questions.
What's included in the Run Commute Ultimate Kit?
The Run Commute Ultimate Kit includes six items: the Backpack Pro 16" (a 14-liter hardshell running pack with zero-bounce harness, 16-inch laptop sleeve, integrated waist belt, and MOLLE-compatible exterior); the Space Bag (a 9-liter external storage pouch for shoes or post-run kit); the MOLLE Strap System (two adjustable straps that hold the Space Bag flat against the Backpack Pro); the Packing Cubes Set (three cubes: small 1.7L, medium 2.6L and large 5.5L); the Quick-dry Towel (a 70 × 130 cm fast-drying towel for the post-run change); and the Rain Cover (a reflective, packable cover that shields the pack in heavy rain).
What is the Run Commute Ultimate Kit used for?
The Run Commute Ultimate Kit is built for run commuting. The Backpack Pro 16" carries a 16-inch laptop and a day's essentials with zero bounce at running pace, the Space Bag attaches via MOLLE to add 9 liters for shoes or post-run kit, the MOLLE Strap System holds the Space Bag flat to keep weight stable while running, the Packing Cubes keep work clothes separated from sweaty run gear, the Quick-dry Towel handles the post-run change, and the Rain Cover shields the pack when the weather turns. It is the complete carry system for running to and from work.
Does the Run Commute Ultimate Kit come with a rain cover?
Yes. The Run Commute Ultimate Kit includes the Rain Cover, a reflective, packable cover that slips over the Backpack Pro and Space Bag to shield your gear in heavy rain. It comes with the kit, so wet-weather protection is built in with no separate purchase needed.
What is the total carbon footprint of the Run Commute Ultimate Kit?
The Run Commute Ultimate Kit has a total carbon footprint of 12.97 kg CO₂e (excluding the Rain Cover, a Deadstock item with no footprint on record), split across 6.56 kg from materials, 0.60 kg from packaging, 5.38 kg from energy used in manufacturing, and 0.43 kg from transport. Kilometer Studios calculates carbon per part (zippers, labels, materials, transport, factories) and prints the per-product number on the tag and product page.
How do the components of the Run Commute Ultimate Kit work together?
The Backpack Pro 16" is the base carrier with a 14-liter main compartment and 16-inch laptop sleeve. The MOLLE Strap System threads through the Backpack Pro's exterior MOLLE webbing to hold the Space Bag. The Space Bag then clips onto the MOLLE Straps, sits flat against the pack, and adds 9 liters of external storage for shoes or wet/dirty gear without bounce. The Packing Cubes Set lives inside the main compartment to separate clean work clothes from sweaty run kit, and the Quick-dry Towel packs alongside for the post-run change. When the forecast turns, the included Rain Cover slips over the pack for weather protection. Add or remove the Space Bag depending on the day.
Is the Run Commute Ultimate Kit weatherproof?
The Backpack Pro 16" is a hardshell running pack but is not waterproof, and the Space Bag and Packing Cubes are not waterproof either. The kit includes the Rain Cover, a reflective, packable cover that slips over the Backpack Pro and Space Bag to shield your gear in heavy rain, so wet-weather protection comes built in.
What makes Kilometer backpacks different from other brands?
Kilometer backpacks are designed specifically for run-commuters. Most of our bags use a modular system that lets you customize your setup with accessories, and our materials are chosen to handle sweat, rain, and daily abuse while still looking sharp at the office.
Can I add accessories to my Kilometer backpack?
Most of our bags use a modular MOLLE system. Accessories like the Space Bag, Waist Pocket Belt, and Bottle Holder work across the MOLLE-equipped lineup (Spin Bag 30L, Spin Bag 18L, Everyday Rolltop, Pannier Rolltop, and Backpack Pro 16). The Trail Pack and Packable Rolltop are minimalist designs without MOLLE.
What is your return policy?
You can return unused products in their original packaging within 30 days of delivery. A return fee is deducted from the refund. Kits are returned as a complete set.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Kilometer Studios ships worldwide. International orders are accepted from every country our logistics partners can reach; shipping costs and delivery times vary by destination and are calculated at checkout.
WHAT OUR
CUSTOMERS SAY:
I absolutely love this backpack - I've been run commuting for years, and this has been a game changer -- I've recommended it to several colleagues and have convinced several to run commute, and I'm now buying my second backpack after the zipper on the first one broke (after 4 years of daily run commuting)...I can fit my laptop, my tablet, a day's worth of clothes, and conveniently have my phone, headphones and work ID in the hip belt. An amazing product - would highly recommend!
Confortable for run or bike commuting. Great quality
Great Products and professional customer service
Could not recommend enough. Only comment is that it’s tough to fit a full winter’s day set of clothes and a pair of shoes in at the same time, but that’s to be expected I suppose.
Great product and fantastic customer service! Had a problem with the zip and was sorted in a week!
I have been using the first version of this backpack for some 5 years now and have always been happy with it. The weak straps on the back were never used, so the updated version seems to be an improvement. Used the rain cover from time to time. Plenty of room for my 13inch computer, power supply cables and more.
I had a bit of a struggle to understand how to tighten the pack correctly to my back but after giving it a look it wasn’t hard to understand where the pack should sit and adjust accordingly! Haven’t achieved ZERO bounce yet but I sit really well, despite me packing it to its max with computer and clothes. Only thing stopping it from being a solid 10/10 is me not achieving that zero bounce but I think that’s just some final adjustments on my end.
Living in a SoCal suburb and working remotely from home, this isn't a bag I really needed but, several times per year, I go on long business trips to Asia and Europe where I have to walk for several miles at times to get to certain destinations and I thought, "It'd be better if I could run than walk, but I need a bag that doesn't bounce around when I run." Being a running addict, a work colleague of mine who lives in Sweden and is an avid cyclist introduced me to this company that makes such a bag. I decided to give it a try even though I'd really only use it on these international trips where I need to get around on foot a lot. Well, after a month-long trip to Asia with stops in cities such as Shanghai and Seoul where it's all about getting around on foot (commutes on subways included), I can say that the bag handled the jogs and some uptempo segments very well with a laptop or some other stuff in it. It took a little while to get the fit just right for my small frame, but I eventually dialed in the fit and the bag stayed in place throughout my runs. I will now pack this bag for all my overseas trips as it can carry all the things I need for business as well as for personal errands to carry things in it instead of carrying a bag in hand. Looks very cool and I really like having the pouches on the front to carry little things that also straps around the waist for a secure fit. This is a very well thought-out product and I wish the office was about 3~5 miles away instead of 25 so I could run-commute every now and then. For a running addict like me, it's a very nice thing to have for those places and times when you wish you could run but is hard to do with stuff to carry. Very happy with it and highly recommended for other avid runners.
I’ve been using the Backpack Pro 16″ from IAMRUNBOX for my daily commutes, and it’s been fantastic. The fit is comfortable, and it feels great even on longer trips. It easily holds my clothes and laptop, making it perfect for work. I also love the front belt with pockets for my phone and other essentials – super convenient! Overall, it’s a well-designed, functional, and stylish backpack that I highly recommend.
This backpack is probably the most compact one that can house a 16 inch Macbook Pro. A change of clothes and maybe some other office necessities like coffee thermos and a notepad will fit, but not much more. I don't think it is possible to squeeze shoes in here, however it closes like a hard shell suitcase, so I might be wrong. Capacity and the way how it closes make it very run-commute specific. And this is why I must underline: running with ~5 kg backpack is VERY HARD! I tried run commuting twice per week 10-11 km to and from on my easy days and that really undermined my recovery. For reference, I've been training at 120-160 km per week for over 6 years, so that wasn't a sudden jump in volume. Now I catch a train to reduce the back leg to just ~4 km and it is way more manageable. So please think twice about the distance you're ready to cover with such a load. The chest strap does slide up as other reviewer noticed, but that's just a nuisance, like a buzzing fly, easy to let go of. The backpack is quite handsome and gets compliments from co-workers and random passers by. Oh, one other thing I have to note: I'm a very sweaty runner, so hip belt pockets become soaked through midway through the run as soon as dew point hits 15C, and the bottom part of the main compartment also gets a little damp – hard to notice, but if you put a paper book in there, you're up for an unpleasant surprise. However my sweating is well above normal so that wouldn't probably be a thing for most users.
